The Christmas advertising campaigns of the well known English department store John Lewis, have developed into a yearly tradition since their start in 2007 and have become part of pre-Christmas Internet culture. John Lewis has been awarded the »IPA Effectiveness Award« with its 2012 Christmas campaign. This year, the video called »Man On The Moon« was published – parallel to the Christmas full moon on 25th December 2015.
The video is about a little girl that looks through a telescope one night, discovering an old man on the Moon. She is determined and very creative in contacting him, but her efforts are in vain. Finally, she succeeds on Christmas night and the lonely man on the Moon is able to make a connection with the Earth and the little girl, which leaves him overjoyed. What a beautiful story!
This campaign has brought inspiration to many people, who have contacted charities that work with the aged and offered their voluntary work, after having seen this video. When glancing at the Moon accomplishes so much good, Christmas can only be a happy time.
